“Oh… My… God!” PUMP “Zeus V4” Big News!

Dear All,

I know we’ve been quiet pretty quiet for the past six months or so…

That’s because we’ve been busy working on two ‘top secret’ projects.

1) a PUMP TV soundbar (not going as well as hoped at this time!);

2) a replacement for Zeus V3 with a way more stylish design, active noise cancelling, and other new features.

I must confess that I’d been getting frustrated with progress on both projects.

…until last Friday, when we received the latest version of a prototype we’ve begun working on with a new factory.

As I put them over my ears — as usual, not expecting anything in particular — I was shocked! My exact words to my Mrs were:

“Oh my god Sarah, I think these actually sound better than Zeus!”.

I’ve literally *never* heard a set of headphones which — to my ear — sound better than Zeus before. If you’re a Zeus Owner you’ll know what I mean.

The vast majority of headphones I’ve listened to (and that’s hundreds of sets) don’t get anywhere near the performance of Zeus.

I once listened to some £650 over-ears, which I thought were *almost* as good, but…you know… they were £650!

So you can imagine my surprise, as I sat in bed on Saturday evening in disbelief. I knew right then we’d found the right manufacturer for the replacement for Zeus.

They look and feel super sophisticated, they’re really comfortable, and most importantly of all, they sound unbelievable.

We’ve already begun fine tuning the sound and other elements to our liking. But unlike the usual months (sometimes years!) of back and forth to get a new factory up to speed with our sound requirements, it appears they’ve “got it” straight away!

This is truly exciting. If the s*** show that was 2020 has taught me one thing, it’s the power of being able to lose yourself in music in order to remain sane…

My objective was to create a set of over-ear headphones that sound as amazing as Zeus but with a much higher end ‘look and feel’, and active noise cancelling.

But it appears we’re actually going one better; to improve upon the sound quality of Zeus — most notably in the “soundstage” department.

As I said, I know we’ve been quiet. There’s been a lot of work going on in the background, but this is one of those moments that gets me EXCITED about what PUMP Audio is all about!

We have to make some further tweaks, but I’m determined to bring this new PUMP model to you in early 2021.

If you’ve got an idea for a name for the new headphones, let us know in the comments below.

If we choose the name you suggest, you’ll get a free set of the yet to be released headphones.

I’m serious, these things are going to blow your mind…

Keep it PUMPed!

Adam

Greek Goddess Nyx is more powerful than Zeus. Her son Hypnos was hiding from the wrath of Zeus and she let him hide in her cave. … She is older and more powerful than Zeus. She is the mother of Hypnos (sleep), Thanatos (Death) and Erebus (Darkness) So therefore you should be naming these new Pumps “NYX”…the mother of all headphones and more powerful than Zeus

OK, scrap my Zeus Quattro suggestion as I see that Audi, who hold the Quattro trademark, have already used it for some of their own headphones. In that case I’ll go for

    Zeus Téssares

as in Zeus V4,Téssares meaning 4 in Greek, which still leaves the Zeus Pénte, Zeus Hex, Zeus Hépta, Zeus Octó, Zeus Énnea, and Zeus Déka for the next few models, V5 to V10, not that I’m suggesting that there’s room for further improvement or anything!

Zeus was and is a great name and I think ought to remain as the core branding for your top of the range headphones, differentiated simply by a secondary name like V4 as in your Zeus V4 name.

    My suggestion is ‘Zeus Quattro’

(Quattro as in 4 in Italian) but I see that ‘Quattro’ is a registered trademark of Audi AG. If that only applies to their 4-wheel drive system and doesn’t have widespread application then I don’t see why you can’t use it for your headphones.

    Osiris

Osiris had no real connection with music according to Egyptian traditions. Yet Greek and Roman traditions about Egypt closely associated them with Egyptian music. By the time that Greek philosophers and historians like Plato (427–347 b.c.e.) took an interest in Egyptian music, Isis and Hathor had merged in the minds of many people. Thus as the religion of Isis and Osiris spread across the Mediterranean Sea, Isis took with her some of Hathor’s associations with music, along with the reputation given to her by Plato—that she had established all the forms of Egyptian music. In Apuleius’ Latin novel Metamorphoses, written in the second century c.e., Isis transforms the hero Lucius from an ass or donkey back into a man with the use of a sistrum. The Greek writer Plutarch (45–125 c.e.) recorded that Osiris ruled the world by the power of his reason and his music. In reality, the Egyptians themselves called Osiris the Lord of Silence and forbade music during his worship except during one joyous ceremony called the Raising of the Djed Pillar. Plutarch also preserved the tradition that the trumpet could not be played at Osiris’ temple at Busiris because its sound reminded the god of his evil brother, Seth, sometimes represented as an unidentified animal who could make a similar sound.
